About the author of Blue Boy

This novel is semi-autobiographical and many of the stories from Kiran’s early childhood are true, like the Lincoln story.  He also grew up in Ohio and participated in similar activities.  However, his parents were very different as was his family structure. While Satyal identifies with Kiran in many ways, he wants Kiran’s story to be seen as different from his own, because it is not a memoir. Satyal attended Princeton University and is now an editor at Harper Collins.
